An old house to be renovated in Taipei, has been chosen to be the exhibition venue, despite being left idle for more than 20 years. The house is highly moist. Both its interior and exterior parts are in a terrible mess. It is also noticeable that the construction of walls and doors is incomplete. By transforming the old house into the exhibition venue, it would facilitate the discussion of how the present and future of Taipei could be perceived, by exposing different artists and audience to the shock between the new and old.
Spring is located at the 2nd door. The use of strawberry-candy-like pink colour to all up the walls could mimic how dogs mark their territories by urinating, which is similar to how landlords encircle their properties with fences, as well as the government drawing border lines for its country by door tiles. The position of the frame made up of aluminium strips would be shifted according to the focus of ones’ eyes, cropping the space into different pieces. As soon as the audience leave the exhibition space, their departure would be accompanied by the old tree near the house.
